Sprinkle the blend on your carpet in a thin layer, let stand for about 20 minutes and then vacuum the carpet. Disinfects, deodorizes and repels fleas, nits and worm eggs. This recipe makes enough cleaner to cover about 1,000 sq. ft. of carpeting. Cutting Board Disinfectant (from
The Complete Guide to Natural Healing) Mix table salt & baking soda together. Add enough water to form a paste. Thoroughly mix in 2 drops of thyme essential oil. Rub all of the mixture into your board and let sit for about 1 hour. Rinse the board well with warm water before using. Repeat this process as necessary. Drain Cleaner (from Holistic Living, May/Jun
1999) 1/4 Cup baking soda Pour baking soda down blocked drain followed by vinegar. Close drain. When fizzing stops, flush drain with boiling water. For regular maintenance, flush drains weekly with 1/2 cup baking soda dissolved in a quart of hot water. Use it to mop your floors or clean the kitchen. Can also be added to the water in your washing machine. To use, scoop a small amount onto a damp sponge. Scrub the surface you are cleaning with small, circular motions. Rinse well. To use, sprinkle with mixture on carpets. Let sit for at least an hour. Vacuum as usual. (Note from Donna - grinding the lavender flowers will release their essential oil and help it permeate the baking soda, strengthening the scent and germ-fighting properties.) Window & Chrome Cleaner (from Holistic Living, May/Jun 1999) 1/4 Cup white vinegar In a pail or basin, mix ingredients together. Use as you would a commercial glass/chrome cleaner.
